 Help please, I used to have no problems playing UT2003 then I had to reformat and reinstall Windows 98 - everything went well and I updated to the latest Geforce drivers from Nvida - 44.03. Reinstalled UT2003 but now it starts with a critical error

UT2003 build (2003-02-13_18.53)

OS: Windows 98.4.10(build 67766446)
CPU:Authentic AMD PentiumPro class processor @ 2009Mhz with 511 MB RAM
Video: Nvidea Geforce MX440 (4403)

Error setting display mode: CreateDevice failed (D3DERR_INVALIDCALL). Please delete your UT2003.ini file if this error prevents you from starting the game.

History: UD3DRenderdevice:UnSetRes <- CreateDevice <- UD3DRenderDevice: SetRes <- UWindowsViewport: TryRenderDevice <-UWindowsViewport: OpenWindow <-UGameEngine:Init <- InitEngine

I've deleted the UT2003.ini file, even tried to run in safe mode (get to screen with the tick boxes, click ok and the box goes then nothing).

Have run Udebugger.exe - says there is no video but it's there in display properties

Can anyone help at all ????

Try older detonators... These 44.03 aren't very good for W9x
43.45 are perfect

Hi,
I personally use v42.30 drivers for my GeForce Ti 4200 with directX 9 installed. Try those :)
