I have installed DirectX9.0a

BOOL IsDepthFormatOk( D3DFORMAT DepthFormat,
D3DFORMAT AdapterFormat,
D3DFORMAT BackBufferFormat ) {

// Verify that the depth format exists.
HRESULT hr = pD3D->CheckDeviceFormat( D3DADAPTER_DEFAULT,
D3DDEVTYPE_HAL,
AdapterFormat,
D3DUSAGE_DEPTHSTENCIL,
D3DRTYPE_SURFACE,
DepthFormat);

if( FAILED( hr ) ) return FALSE;

// Verify that the depth format is compatible.
hr = pD3D->CheckDepthStencilMatch( D3DADAPTER_DEFAULT,
D3DDEVTYPE_HAL,
AdapterFormat,
BackBufferFormat,
DepthFormat);

return SUCCEEDED( hr );

}

Got the same problem (under separate post, whoops)

No luck so far, might have to re-install?

Go to UT2003.ini and go to D3DDevice section. Check to see if "UseStencil=True". If so, please change to "UseStencil=False".

Sometimes driver check during first-time run UT2003 based on ATI, it automatically set "UseStencil" to True. In Nvidia video cards, UT2003 first-time run automatically set "UseStencil" to False.

Your ATI don't support "multi-stencil" such each viewport have different stencil buffers! However your ATI do only support single stencil buffer, not multiple.

Still UnrealED wont open.
I have the same videoboard, the same w2k, the same SP3...
I only upgrade my MOBO to A7N8X-Dxe just to have better performance.

My last MOBO=P3-INTEL-1Ghz -> UnrealED works fine.
My new MOBO=AMD-2Ghz -> UnrealED wont work.

Any help is welcome... tkx

i HAVE teh same mobo as the other guy (the asus A7V8X) how ever both the game and teh editor always used to work, untill i updated teh game to version 2225, now when ever i open up the game i get the same error msg as everyone else, the only way i can find that temporarly stops this is by re-installing the patch. this only seems to work for a few hours, so if i wish to laod teh game up again, i ahve to install it yet again. althopugh sometimes i have to restart teh machne before actually loading up teh game. is there any way to PROPERLY fix this annoying bug? or would i be best to downgrade back to the previous version of the ut patch?

any ideas ppl?

You have nForce2 motherboard same as me!

You have AGP Driver not installed properly.

Please re-install nForce2 Driver V2.03 or V2.45 again. I think your ATI video card are running in PCI mode.

Also make sure you enable "Fog Emulation" but may not be available in ATI Driver. I am using Nvidia Driver so your driver is very different.

---

Please open registry editor and go to /system/currentcontrolset/video and check these devices. If you find 2 or more devices contain ATI Driver, please check which of device contains "volitale" key. If not, please delete that key don't have volitale key assigned because it contain very old driver that are not used anymore. Don't delete any other device such "VGA Save", "VGA Driver" or other devices.

If you cannot do because you don't understand Windows XP Technical, then following procedure below:

Go to System Control Panel then open Advanced then click "Settings" for enivornment setting. Please "Add..." then add
devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices = 1 (must be in system enivornment, not user enivornment).

Then go to device manager and click "Show hidden devices". Go to video card and you may find 2 or more video cards assigned to it! Please uninstall all video cards that marked as dimmed.

Then restart the computer.

You may refer to www.nforceshq.com (not sure) and go to forums and go to driver topics.

i dont have the nforce chip, just teh asus mobo, and a standard asus chip i think, also i ahve a geforce 4 Ti 4600, not ATI, so i aint totally sure wot the prob is all about, and why it only starts when i upgraded to teh 2225 patch

Not for DVDO. It is for eon5 user who posted "A7N8X Deluxe" motherboard.

is a Direct3dRenderer.h problem

With the new patch, the zbuffer mode isnt compatible with my videoboard. Depth buffer formats change... :(

CheckDepthStencilMatch.
Determines whether or not a depth-stencil format

Turn On a Depth Stencil

This example shows how to turn on a depth stencil surface and set the stencil format.

If the PresentParameters.EnableAutoDepthStencil property of the Microsoft Direct3D object is true, Direct3D will manage depth buffers for the application.

The PresentParameters.AutoDepthStencilFormat stencil format is set to be a 16-bit z-buffer bit depth, by receiving the D16 constant of the Format enumeration.

using Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D;

public class Lights : Form
{
// Global variables for this project
Device device = null; // Rendering device
PresentParameters presentParams = new PresentParameters();
.
.
.
public bool InitializeGraphics()
{
// 1. Turn on a depth stencil
presentParams.EnableAutoDepthStencil = true;

// 2. And the stencil format
presentParams.AutoDepthStencilFormat = Format.D16;
}
}

- So... this command block another aplication: SoftwareVertexProcessing

How Do I...?
Create a Direct3D Hardware Device

This example shows how to create a Microsoft Direct3DDevice that uses a hardware abstraction layer and software vertex processing.

This code selects the following options.

The Hardware constant of the DeviceType enumeration specifies hardware rasterization and shading.
The SoftwareVertexProcessing constant of the CreateFlags enumeration specifies software vertex processing behavior.

=ChainsawMonkey]Are you using AntiAliasing or Anisotropic Filtering? If you are, turn them off - UT2003 (and I would assume the Runtime as well) don't work nicely at all if you've got them enabled on an ATI card.

in D3D>advanced options>everything must be activated
