whenever start up UnrealEd 3, the screen gets brighter. For example, the background colour of the start menu is almost white etc...
I have 2 monitors, and the 2nd one is not affected.
The problem sometimes doesn't go away until I restart the computer.
It first happened when I tried to load up msn while UnrealEd was still loading.
OS is Win ME.
thanks

Yer I am getting this exact same problem. I only have one monitor, and it is kinda annoying as I cannot get lighting correct with messed contrast.
I am running WinXP, GeF2 Pro, 2.26P4 etc etc etc
Anyone know why this happens or a work around? :weird:

PS: the version of unrealed that comes with Unreal 2 works fine, it is just UT2003's unreal ed that seems to be bust :weird:

I found that it was working fine for a long while, then it happened all of a sudden.

make a shortcut to Unreal ED, then make the patch look like this :
x:\UT2003\System\UnrealEd.exe -nogamma
that will correct the gamma f()ck-up.

when you close UED click the taskbar on a spot that wont open a different window. It fixes it for me usually... i only get the perma-gamma once in a while.

It's supposed to be like that. It's so the brightness in the 3D view window is correct to how it will be in the game. It makes it easier to get your lighting correct.

Ah that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up Narroc.:)

That's OK.
However, if UnrealEd crashes (like that ever happens :D), the brightness doesn't always get reverted back to normal. In that case, you have to reset your computer.

- Or just launch unreal and exit it, which will get it out of the "gamma limbo". :D

Thanks for the help guys!
I will try the no gamma thing, because whatever the game gamma is meant to be, Ued is unusable with what it is set to! it is practically "whited out"!
Thanks

Thanks 191, that works! The damn thing was so bright before, it'd make a person not want to make a map.... :D
