I am trying to make a players guide to ut2003 but obviously need players to donate there tips to the guide when finished I will upload it to my site and your tip will clearly show that you donated it. If you want me to link your name to a site or anything just post that after your tip. When finished it should look something like this one done for UT. http://members.lycos.co.uk/logue/pages/stuff/guide.html
Yes I know I could just use that one but I want it more based at 2k3 rather than ut. thx in advance. Logue

Learn the double-dodge and the double-dodge-jump moves! I think it is a temptation for a lot of beginners (it was for me anyway) to want to turn this off because it can come across as just a hassle when you're not used to it. But when used properly, you move across the map twice as fast, and it can get you out of many a-tight-situation. (e.g. a rocket or a wad of flag coming right at you)

I would like to see (and help with) a guide like the bible for ut2k3.

http://www.ocrana.de/utbible/

If we use the good ideas in your guide we could get a great start.

The guide is for anyone who wants to use it just make sure you give credit to whoever posted the tip though :) If thats your clan site can you ask them to make the winamp3 skin work with winamp2.x?

As soon as I get about 10 tips I will upload the guide and provide linkage, so keep it coming :)

BR Tip - Never stand still, take the ball, run like hell, move to the sides in a way so its not possible to make a pattern out of it for the enemy.

Do the unexpected.

Think ahead, what might be around the corner

Bind suicide to a key in team games

Bind the Translocator to your scroll button or mid button. Then you can always reach is fast...

There's a pretty good guide that is a sticky at the prounreal.com forums.

I'd post a link, but I'd probably get an f'ed-up warning point or something. Just go to the UT2K3 discussion at prounreal, and you can't miss it.
It covers just about everything except movement.

Nothing. Just type this in the console:

set input keyname suicide

Where keyname can be any sort of input. Look in the ini file for the correct keynames.

I suicide in CTF a LOT, especially when I am in my own base and have 30 or less health. Select your best weapon and "AUGH!".

1. Bind every gun to a key thats reachable durring combat without having to stop to change guns.

2. When your not fighting, use your sheild. If you have your keys binded properly your not gonna have trouble switching back.

3. Learn how to move and hit shock combos at the same time.

4. Use headphones. Hearing where your opponent is is crucial to winning. Turn music off.

5. Practice all the jumps on antulas. If you can do all of them, and be able to get atop any rock in the map you will become a much better mover.

6. Master boost dogde.

7. Get really good with hitscan weapons. (Shock, lg, mini)

8. Experiment with different mouse sensitivities and settings. Dont be afraid to fool around with everything, you can always change it back.

9. This is all preference but....make your weapon hidden and turn weapon bob off. You see more of the screen without your weapno showing and its easier to hit something when your not spazing out bouncing up and down.

10. Time power ups. Power ups are key.

Big Sheild = 55 seconds
Little Sheild= 27 seconds
Amp= 84 seconds (might be a little less or more)

11. Play 1v1. Learn Patterns of getting guns and best routes throughout each map.

10) Always pick up EVERYTHING. If you don't, it could be the thing that your opponent frags you with.

I don't agree, if you do this, you WILL piss everyone else off who may need the ammo you so thoughtfully picked for that weapon YOU dont use!!!

Let's play, but play fair. :up:

I disagree with it because it is predictable. Anything you do in this game that is predictable is bad...

If someone is just blatantly running after all the ammo in the game, you know exactly where to aim those 3 rockets ;)

Are you allowed to do this in clangames in cb or jolt league? [have thought about binding it to a key meself but... well I guess I'm a little bit too lazy too look it up in the rules :)]

Tips:

Learn how to do walldodge without thinking about it; no one expects you to do it in the middle of battle... [as a matter of fact, you should be able to dream all the jumps]

In Teambased games... PLAY AS A TEAM! no Flag//ball carrier needs a team full of TDM'ers that do not even know who and why they are shooting. I'm not saying everyone should take positions as deffer//midfielder blah blah... I know no one wants to def on public games, but at least stick to the one carrying the flag//ball and make sure he makes it to whereever he's safe before leaving his side! [and for the more advanced under us, try keeping the path he'll take cleared of enemies :P]

Speechbinds are your friend in teamgames :D

Don't dodge [too often] if yer opponent has a powerfull hitscan weapon [Shock or LG, if Mini get the hell outta there ;)]

Learn how to telefrag! It's good fun [and helpful when you haven't got a gun but need that one critical kill] :D

Last one: Try pissing your opponents off... they'll be bound to make st00pid mistakes when angered ;) Rule: Don't try this last tip on me :mad:

This isn't necessarily the best advice in the world, but don't forget about splash damage. If you're not that good of a crack shot, rely on the "blast" of the weapon hitting other objects around your enemy (especially if they're close). Weapons like the rocket launcher and the goop gun don't necessarily have to be aimed at the head or torso. If they're jumping around a lot, it can be hard to anticipate where they will be in the air a split second ahead. So aim at the ground were they are (or are jumping to) or at the wall they are standing close to. (And if they are jumping, try to anticipate were they will be landing and fire there.)

Aliases

*Shield jump(press key charge the shieldgun, releasing will shoot the shield gun, jump and best weapon all at once)
Aliases[#]=command="getweapon xweapons.ShieldGun | Button bFire | Fire | OnRelease Jump | onrelease
switchtobestweapon",Alias="ShieldJump")

Key=ShieldJump

*Weapon switch(selects the Lightning Gun as long as the button is pressed) Aliases[#]=(Command="SwitchWeapon 9 | onrelease switchtobestweapon",Alies="qLightning")

Key=qLightning

*Team Member(This displays current health, weapon and location to your team members)
Aliases[#]=(Command="Teamsay Status {%h} {%w} {%L}",Alias="MyStatus")

Key=MyStatus

*Emergency Teleporter(Place a beacon in a hidden place then translocate there and have your best weapon selected whenever you press the button.)
Aliases[#]=(Command-"getweapon XWeapons.TransLauncher | Button bAltFire | onrelease switchtobestweapon",Alias="teleport")

Key=teleport

Key-bindings

*Quick shield key=switchweapon 1 | altfire | onrelease switchtobestweapon

*Lightning Gun Combo key=Getweapon Xweapons.sniperrifle
| Button bFire | onrelease switchtobestweapon

*Quick Third Person key=behindview 1 | onrelease behindview 0

Tips

*Trans Whores I always watch for where people shoot their translocater, and too where it lands, then I nale them with some head shots, or a shock combo.

*Two weapon combos I like to do a two weapon combo, for instance, I fire a set of rockets too the direction of my opponent, too make him dodge, then while he's in air I nale him with the lightning gun, or the Link Gun. I like to use weapons that work well together too throw my opponents off balance. Try to find weapons that help you do this, basically 1 weapon for a set up shot, then another for a finishing fatality.

*Damn Walls Stay away from the walls, unless your doing a wall-doge, or a boost-dodge, because splash damage will effect you mostly, when your too close to the wall, and it makes it easier for your opponent to predict where your going, hence you can't move through the wall, so you have only three angles to move too.

I have many more, but I'm tired... :eek:

When using the lightning gun, always switch weapon after one shot. Do a burst (or a couple of shots), then switch back and shoot another bolt of lightning if the enemy still isn't dead. This means you aren't waiting for the reload, which would cost you your life against a good player. Lg/shock or lg/rl are the best combos.

Turn auto-switch off. If you need to switch when you get new weapons, bind switch to best eapon to a key and use that.

Sort out weapon priority - if you run out of ammo, you'll get what's at the top.

Practice with all weapons, not just your favourite. You will come to need all of them, as you often don't have time to go for the one you want.

Practice getting lead right on weapons like Flak and Link gun. Depending on distance, you'll need to aim further in fronmt of the opponent.

Well, once again, a very n00besk tip, but I've just began to realize this in the last few weeks. :rolleyes: So therefore, I think it might not be so obvious to beginners.

I've been 1on1ing a friend that's much better than I am, and he points out that I need to get the shield power-ups much more, which I never thought about before. Sure, I picked them up when I saw them, but I never put together the fact that no matter how hard a wallop I laid on him in our firefights (between each death), he always lasted longer than I did. Now I know it's because he was always juiced up with shields and health better than I was.

This might seem like a big DUH to a lot of players out there, but it wasn't exactly obvious to me when I first started playing. It never was in free-for-all deathmatch-based multiplayer. I always had in the back of my mind 'Who cares if you die, you can just respawn and get your health back.' :haha:

My point is: The goal is not just to see how many frags you can get, but also not to die. (even if it means bailing from a battle) Retreating from a battle doesn't mean you've lost that battle, it means the enemy hasn't received another frag on you. If you die, then you've lost that battle, because the enemy received another frag. (This is ESPECIALLY important in 1-on-1's.) :up:

.:: tips from an allround gamer (new to UT2k3 tho) ::.

learn the maps:
- kno where u can and cant get, and how to get there
- kno exactly where all the pickups are (weaps, ammo, shield, etc)
- find out the best routes (not always the shortest ones) to the enemy base

team games:
- share ammo and stuff with your teammates, no need to pick up stuff u already have, but your teammate desperately needs
- defend your teammates, even if it will cost u your own life, dont run away and leave him on his own against 2 or 3 enemies, together u have a better change that at least one of u will survive
- if youre new to a game, start as a defender and work your way up to become a good offender... defence is key to every teambased game...

btw. tnx for the effort fraggster, much appreciated, was a good read for me so far... do u kno bout this tho: http://www.ina-community.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=292822

Tip: if you play IG, don't dodge. I find dodging only leaving you end up in a predictable spot and getting kill easily by the good players. However, if dodging is your style, STICK WITH IT. It's better to do a bad thing good than to do a good thing bad. Some people tell me not to jump instead of dodging, but since jumping is my style and I can waste most of those people easily, I don't really care. :)

Don't go into a match (especially one with players that you know are better than you) expecting to win. It will only make it worse.

Go into every match expecting to do your best. And this isn't intended to be some silly little pep-talk. It's the truth. If you play your best, what more can be asked of you, and you had fun. :up: If you expect to win, and you don't, you'll get frustrated, mad, disconcerted, and quit.

Alright, this is great. I purposley look for strategies that have not been seen before, I love giving out tips and I have too many to give out. PM me if you want any of my advice to go into your guide, I can easily fill up several pages. This is because I have no life.:D If I posted them here they would be common knowledge. Therefore by making the people here curious about them, and they knowing that the tips are at your guide, they will visit it. A win win situation for all.:p

Most of mine are specific for certain gametypes, maps, and some are meant only to be used by advanced players. It includes team play tactics as well as everything else imaginable that has to do with playing ut2k3 including psychological.
I'll start typing it up as soon as possible and I will send it to you if you would like but be warned this might take several days.

Learn to aim:
1. buy an optical mouse
2. buy a low resistance mouse pad(or a nice wood desk like me)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3. Choose an in-game sensitivity by answering the following as best describes your playing style:
---1.
~~~A. Are you normally a up close and personal player? If yes, give yourself 3 points

~~~B. Are you a long range player? If yes give yourself 1 point
~~~C. Do you like to play up close and far away from the enemy? If yes, give yourself 2 points

---2.
~~~A. Are you normally a static player? (ie- do you tend to stay still and frag) If yes, give your self 2 points
~~~B. Do you tend to move around a lot? Jumppy or always dodge? If yes, give your self 1 point

---3.
~~~A. Would you consider your self to have a very fast reaction time? If yes, give your self 1 point
~~~B. Would you consider your self to have a medium/standard reaction time? If yes, give your self 2 points

~~~C. Would you consider your self to have a slow reaction time? If yes, give your self 3 points
Total your points:
3 or 4 points: Use a low sensitivity
5 or 6 points: Use a medium sensitivity
7 or 9 points: Use a high sensitivity
This is a good way to find a sensitivity thats right for you if you are uncomfortable with yours.
The last step is to play with this sensitivity and do not change it for a while. Changing it every game or day will vastly hut your aim/game.
I hope this helped
