Hi, ive just fired up the editor after a recent break and ive noticed the grid lines are gone in the 2dshape editor. Is this a bug with the new 2225 patch?? They come back if i turn down the gamma way down....too much!!!. Any help appreciated. :)

Not really...... have the gamma , contrast and brightness all at defaults.

To get the lines back i have to turn the brightness or contrast or gamma way down. So much that i cant even see the 3d viewport. Had this problem before with one of the patches awhile ago.....looks like its back again. :weird:

no, you had the problem before you installed dx9, now the recent patch has FIXED the problem. although something should be done with the grid lines in the 2d editor, the 3d editor needs the gamma bumped to replicate the settings that are in game.

I can see the grid in the other viewports ...just not the 2d shape editor. Went back to the 2199 patch and the problems gone.

lol, it depends on what you call "the problem."

the BUG is that the gamma bumps now, and didnt in 2199. the BUG is the gamma NOT bumping in 2199. the BUG is due to dx9. the PROBLEM is that the gamma bumps, and washes out your 2d grid, lol. the BUG causes your 3d viewports to be too dark, which throws off your lighting. the BUG fixes the PROBLEM. lol, id prefer to have the problem than the bug, but thats just me.

to fix it, find something that will drop your gamma. or you can just "feel" your way through the 2d editor, lol. thats what ive always done.

Simple fix for this is to add a -nogamma tag after the target inthe properties for the unreal ed shortcut.

right click the short cut selct properties

put -nogamma at teh end of the target mine looks liekthis

C:\GAMES\UT2003\System\UnrealEd.exe -nogamma

now unrael ed shoudl load wioth the windows default gamma level.

Yes, it works, but now your lighting will look like crap because it doesn't match the game's gamma settings while you're in Ued :)

Yeah... but its still WAY better than having to jerk the gamma or brightness settings back and forth between the 2d shape editor and the 3d viewport. And you can always try the level ingame to check lighting properly. ;)

This thread was about the 2d editor. Obviously you would pull that tag out or make a send icon all together if you need a better representation of the in-game render for lighting purposes.
