View Full Version : Can't connect to the next multiplayer game
04-28-2003, 01:10 PM
i load up ut2k3, jump in a multiplayer game, get killed a lot, and when the match is over, a black screen comes up with the next map listed. assuming this part is normal, i'm just waiting to connect to the next match on that particular server.
and then it doesn't do anything.
after all that, the game never connects me to the next match.
i have to disconnect, and then jump on the same server.
anybody know what's goin on here?
i'm losing my patience with the multiplayer aspect of this game.
btw, i have the 2225 patch, and all my comp drivers are up to date.

just so i can get some sort of reply from people...
what is SUPPOSED to happen after a multiplayer match has ended?
please include a description of the screen and how long that particular screen is displayed before it switches.

Well what's supposed to happen is: the screen will go black with the server address and the next map in white letters. Then after a spell, the bluish screen with a faint map shot in the back ground and in white letters "Loading" and below that the map name. That's it.

hmm, it just seems like i have to wait an extremely long time to connect to the next map.
i've left the room to take a piss and it's still trying to connect.
maybe next time i'll go make a sandwich.

How are you fixed for system memory? I'm sure you have but if you haven't install the latest patch. The box says 733 MHz is required CPU, with a 1GHz recommended.

radeon 9500 pro 128mb
i'll try it out tonight and leave it running for as long as it takes.
i've waited long enough so that by the time i disconnect, then reconnect to the same server, people have 8+ kills already, so i know they've been connected for a while, and i've been waiting.

You didn't post your machine specs. so the stab in the dark so to speak.
Any way how about the Internet connection? And not to be silly, but is your connection method correct in the "settings" in game?
I've found that using "Game Spy" as a server browser is no good. I always seem to get slower connection speeds there. What is your ping on the server you are connecting to? Try a different server.

This problem has been brought up in other threads and no resolution yet. I have a couple questions for you that might help us both. 1) Did you recently install a new Router for your internet connection? 2) were you already at the new patch level when you discovered this problem?
I have been playing the game for awhile and everything was great, maps reloaded on same server after the end of the game. Now I have the same problem as you in that when the game ends I have to go to the server browser and re-jpin the same server to get to the next map. Any of this sound familure to you?
