View Full Version : Run / shoot blending issue....

I was just enquiring whether anyone could help in regards to sorting out an issue I have with my custom animation. Everything seems to work fine, except for when I run and shoot, for the top half sways as if it is still intune with the running action, although the actual torso action recoils like it should.

Meaning that my gun is shooting all over the place while running, which, needless to say, looks pretty dodgy.

I assume it has something to do with sockets, or maybe it is even in how the original animation is setup in max. I don't know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That sucks.

I have a similar problem... the shooting animation is taking over the walking/running animation. Which means that my character shoots and the legs stay still while it moves.

Really sucks... it's a nice obstacle on my path to model creation. Perhaps you could lemme know of any socket resources you find? I know that the root of the problem no doubt lies with sockets.

There must be a way to set animation overrides, to correct exactly this. Look at the default models to figure out how they do it.

Ummm... Animation overrides?? Check default models for wha? Sorry man, I'm new at this... sounds a little greek. I've tried tons of things with the sockets but to no avail. Always have the firing animation have priority over running.

I'm rather new at this as well. But there must be a way to do it if the models that came with the game work correctly. :weird: Must be some kind of blend mode or something...

It's got to be a socket issue. Go here, this is the best character modeling tutorial for Maya I've ever seen:

Here's the first page:

This should get you going in no time. :D

Yeah, Spectre... that tutorial is a godsend and works on a lot of things... but for some reason the firing bug still gets me. I've followed numerous forum posts on this topic and they mention adding those additonal 5 sockets. However, for some reason, the additional sockets don't correct the problem.

I'm still workin it out, and if I happen to figure this helluva bug out, I'll post in this topic.
