heres the description out of the readme ;)
ExplosiveInstagib is a higly modified InstaGib rifle. here is what it does:
-a direct hit is still an instant kill
-when you shoot the wall, or another player, there will be an explosion with radius damage
-when you kill someone, their body will explode, possibly takign people near them, aswell (the killer gets any of these kills)
-there is no damage given to self, or team mates, but 3x the momentum transfer. so you can boost team mates, or "rocket jump". (extremely fun in a somewhat open map)
this will be a beta test, unless no one finds any problems with it... for now im jsut hosting it on my attbi webspace at:

tell me what you think. and i would love it if someone could set up a server running it, atleast for a couple hours, so i could have a chance to test it online wiht some folks. tell me here, or in an email or PM if you can set up a good test server.

anyone tried it yet?
my clanmates tell me it awsome... but i wanna hear from the public, what they think of it. i think its a big improvment on gameplay for instagib, myself. and tried very hard to tweak everything to keep gameply fun and exciting, without getting too hectic.
heres a quick pic of me shooting next to someone who already has abotu half HP, and thus dyign formt he splash damage... the explosio doesnt look to pretty int he pic, but it looks good ingame...

anyways... wa jsut talkign to aguy abotu it, and ive decided im gonna amke a bunch of configureabel stuff. liek the isntant damage, the splash radius and damage for shots and death explosions. the fire speed. and an option to make flak shells spawn in the explosions.

sounds like the gameplay will be too easy...
the biggest challenge in instagib is the need to aim well. and now you took that away.
it could be fun though...

yeah, i realise the main part of instagib is the aiming.. btu there is still a lot of luck involved for the average player... and all to often i see people, including me, in a 1 on 1 fight, jumping around shooting at eachother for like an entire minute, before someone finally hits the otehr person. with this mut, those long lasting battles would be non-existent. and with the health vials around, you can replenish any health you have lost in such a battle, or pump up your health, so you can last a lot longer.
people who aim best will still prevail... it jsut gives everyone else a fighting cahnce.
ive found taht the rocket jumping is a huge plus for gameplay, in most levels. as long as blockign volumes are in place, so you cant get to any REALLY weird places...
i havent been able to play this with any human player yet... though i an eeger to do so... but i must say that bot matches with ExplosiveInstagib are a blast (pun intended ;))
i dont by any means recomend thsi as a "replacement" to instagib... its jsut another variation, taht i think could be great fun if a server or few ran it, all the time, or jsut on occasion.

Sounds like fun. I like Instaskeleton too, can you test it with your mutator to get them to work together?

the comunnity is coming out with all of these neat IG mutators! Its so great!
im gonna hold off on this 1 untill a few other ppl try it out though - interesting though :up:

it already "skeletizes" wehn someone is killed :)
and ill hopefully have it updated before i go to bed tomorrow... but its hard to tell. having some config problems, but hoefully ill be able to remedy them shortly.

With instaskeleton the effect is identical to falling in lava in CTF_Magma. Is this how your effect is??
Would be nice if it was; it feels so sweet. :up:
Basically the fireball and gibs with the "poof" sound, leaving a skeleton afterward, that would or would not be missign limbs depending on the shot.

Hey, I love your Explosive Instagib mutator, but I'm wondering if you can add 2 options to your config menu. Is it possible to allow the option of using the translocator, and also to reset all the weapon values to default? Your mutator has a bunch of nice options, with appropriate defaults, but I find that if i'm tweaking it, I can't remember what the default values were. Thanks...

Sonds like instagibvape. (except the floor/wall effects)
Instahits result in shock combo ball. Any enemies in close enough prox are toast.
Played in many times on a particular server who's name escapes me at the moment.

This is a lot of fun! Are you going to have a custom model for the gun?
I found a couple of problems with it. First, when a map loads there are many of these errors in the log:
Warning: Failed to load 'Class None.MiniHealthPack': Can't resolve package name
And then firing produces this error:
Warning: ExplosiveInstagibFire DM-Antalus.ExplosiveInstagibFire (Function ExplosiveInstagib.ExplosiveInstagibFire.MyHurtRadi us:013F) Accessed None
Also, please remember to change the package names when you release a new version to avoid version mismatches in multiplayer.

Is it possible to have the weapon registered so that it can be chosen by other mutators, such as WeaponsStuff and WoRM? I would like to be able to use this fine weapon in combination with other weapons. I've seen this with a lot of InstaGib mutators, where the whole environment of a single weapon is forced on the player, with little flexibility. But I would imagine that's what the Arena mutator is for.
Anyway, any input from anyone would be appreciated...if someone can suggest to me how to code such things to suit my own preferences, I'd be eternally grateful...

Add this line to 'ExplosiveInstagib.int':
Object=(Class=Class,MetaClass=Engine.Weapon,Name=' ExplosiveInstagib.ExplosiveInstagibRifle',Descript ion="Descriptive description")
and it will show up in mutators like any other weapon.

Me an my mate are big Instagib fans,,.....I downloded your explosive one which plays brilliant single player....but on server we have no gun in hand and cannot fire.
Any Idea whats wrong????

This is a crazy mutator...way too easy to kill/get killed.
Ideally I'd like something like this to be merely cosmetic....where the gameplay is the same as instagib only when you hit your opponents they explode. This would retain the same need for good aim. Then again...it would just be instagib with explosions that way.

you need to setup a server yourself that runs it. If you join a public one, of course it won't work.

i havent had time to work on it lately, (but im almost ready to release the first public beta of my mod BloodPit ;) ).
i shoudl have time in the next couple weeks to finnishe up mso tof it. a custom gun mesh would be ideal... though i havent had much success with weapon modeling :/ maybe ill manage something, or have someone else do it :D
