Black Widow Modification is in full throttle. We have many great models, our code is groundbreakng and our first map is turning out great. The only obstacle we face right now is our weapon models being skinned... we lack in the skinning department.

Positions open:

-Weapon Skinner
-Mapper
-Static Mesher
-Animator

What types of Static Meshes are you in need of?

Given a description or sketch I can probably get you anything you need in .3ds format within a day or two. Unskinned of coarse.

I have yet to successfully compile things myself so I couldn't help in that aspect.

Let me know if I could help.

Looks like you've done some solid work though. Very Impressive.

LOL at the destruction of the USA.
altough I do wonder why the Netherlands are part of the eastern empire ...

*eh* the world has been blasted to the 'stone age' ... but they have acces to modern hi-tech weapons ?

I was expecting WW2-type weapons at best ...

Yes, the destruction of the USA. Is it really that hard to fathom? We aren't the most liked country in the world.. who do you think is going to get the blunt of the nuclear weapons launched at them? I dont care how many nukes we have, after a couple hundred, major cities and locations are gone and nobody will know where they are.

Secondly: Yes, Netherlands are part of the Eastern Empire.

Third: Yes, we have MODERN weapons. These nuclear attacks didn't happen in the 1940's... why would we be using WW2 weapons? It happened in modern times, so we're implementing MODERN weapons.

Try to read up on the mod before criticizing any aspects about it.

No it's not hard to fathom, it's unique and nice to see a post holocaust background that wipes them out instead of europe ;)

And I think you've over estimated the chances of the Acheans to maintain a stable position in the Netherlands. We don't have many factories and the major distribution centers would be wiped out by anyone wanting to stop traffic to central europe.
The borders most definitely would more likely follow 'natural barriers' (= rivers & mountains). As a whole the map looks like you simply recolored the countries instead of trying to think about how the borders would have changed after holocaust.

What I meant about the weapons are either *american* (M-16, M-249, Colt) or West-European (FN = Belgium, H&K = Germany).
Given that you wiped out the usa as a source of high tech goods and the other manufacturers are (if they've survived) now part of the 'gaul' empire.
That'd leave nothing for the 'Achean Empire' (unless you plan to include russian weapons for them).
And a very limited supply for the Gaul's unless they rebuild a lot of stuff.

Also since there's little oil in Europe, trying to maintain a large amount of vehicles would require converting them to another resource for fuel (alcohol & wood are examples used in Twilight 2000). Helicopters and planes would require far too much fuel for anyone to maintain at a 'normal' level.

I'd suggest you try to find the rulebook for 'Twilight 2000' as it gives a similar 'post-holocaust' world (altough the countries as we know them still kind of exist).
As is the tech-level your world has doesn't match the destruction that was caused. Perhaps WW2-tech is a bit too 'old', but think of movies like 'Mad Max' where guns are available, but the 'heavy' or high tech stuff is very rare ...

For example : the Barret would be a valuable resource you'd try to protect and/or steal instead of give to just anyone.
And I think 'caseless' ammo (as used by the G11) would be next to impossible to manufacture if you're short on resources.

Yeah.. might wanna step back into the box.

Although, you do post a good debate - there wouldn't be much of a mod if it were all real :)

Would you all rather have no MODS at all? I think its good to see people taking initiative to go out on the limb and spend their time making something for you....the community not for themselves or any specific person but for everyone. Like it or hate it...I don't see most of these other MODS with anywhere near as much progress as this (unless I missed something), actually Jungle Warfare is coming along good but other than that I know of none that are moving along as well.

Sorry if this sounds preachy but I think everyone is being to critical. :sour: Games are made as an escape from life so why try to make the game true to life? :weird: It would eliminate the whole point.

Now I'll probably be flamed or trolled in some manner...oh well

Hence is the price we pay for free speech :p

I know that ... but a good solid background provides focus.
It makes it easier to decide what features you'd want and what you don't want.
It prevents feature-kreep(tm) and it keeps the mod to a managable size.

I'd rather see 10 ppl start & finish a single mod instead of 10 projects that not even manage to release a single beta ...

I consider this link (http://wiki.beyondunreal.com/wiki/Mychaeel/Mod_Startups) to be food for thought for anyone that wants to start or join a development-team for any mod.

I believe that the background is solid enough. The focus of the team is obviously rather good, the progress of the mod has moved along at quite a good clip.
