[MOD]Event Horizon[IDEA]

Ok, I watched this film last night. OMG OMG OMG!!! love it. It is so well made. It would make such a good one player mod. Obviasly u would add more stuff into it but u go onto a ship with a team u split up and explor (add alot more than in the film) and u go through rooms in dark included spaces etc... make it a kinda of gothic scifi look to it (doom3) u could make such a good game out of it a bit like resident evil with puzzles etc.... I am already in a games dev team (#Liquid-Reality). If you havn't seen the dark horizon film u have to see it. Remember my idea would be taking the story further and like halfway through the game when only 2 people make it home then the life form that was on the dark horizon could have come back with u to earth. Everyone starts commiting suicide etc... omg omg omg it would rock. It would have alot of ingame sequences and very well made music and would need a very very very good team (almost pro mod team). Remember it would be adding more to the film maybe have 3 people of your team get back to earth, the one that has been added is you and u are like the captain of them all. U get my drith anyway. It would add a sort of WTF! is going on and totaly confuse the gamer and imers them in confusion. LR dev team might be taking it further atm we only have 3 coders and 2 mappers 1 sound artist and urrrrr ow ye designer (forgot about his ***** ass). Anyway yes what ya think. Would it work as a SP game. We are thinking of taking this idea further but need some feedback :D. We might also add a MP co-op type of thing to it. Anyway realy u have to of seen the film to understand me :((.

movie is pretty cool, but making a whole mod out of it... i don't know. Besides, i dont have any skills, except draw by hand :P

All I can say is, I went into the theater when that came out and thought is was going to be just a sci-fi thing, I came out and had to sit down and have a smoke and gather myself. thats one mind fooking movie.

I think a very well done BR map would be great for that, dont see the HUGE effort of making a mod.

Maybe I'll tackle that map idea, not for a while though have two almost done and two others started

Event Horizon is sometimes a misunderstood film, but It`s one of my favourite of all time.. very cool and creepy in places - best watched at night, in the dark on loud heaphones (alone and with no clothes on) also with the windows open (or some other source of a cold draught)

serious experience.. try it!


as for a mod, don`t think there is enough to do that but a map would be cool. I thought about doing one some time back when it was mentioned but...

The kewlest thing about the mod is the game is trying to make u commit suicide and kill your team m8s. It would have a MP co-op but mainly a SP game. I tyhink it would be kewl.

I'm not sure about the mod, but you sure made me wanna see that movie :)

Edit: about the mod :p, it sounds pretty hard to do, especially with the suicide stuff. If you'd do something like this you'd really need a GOOD team, something like the Dark horizon bunch, their stuff looks amazing:eek:

Have you seen Wes Craven's "They"? That movie spooked me some, and that ain't easy for a movie to do these days

Try reading The 3 Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch by Phillip K. Dick on a quiet night in solitude. :)

Billionaire industrialist Palmer Eldritch heads a multi national pharmaceutical company that is slowly being squeezed out of the marketplace. The most lucrative territory is Mars with its involuntary colonists who's main recreation is escape through a type of VR that can only be triggered through hallucinogenic drugs and the use of "dolls" that the participants inhabitate.

Palmer Eldritch sets off in a one man starship for Proxima Centauri hoping to find ...... something. Before embarking on the years long trip he has surgeons replace his teeth, eyes and a hand with mechanical substitutes ..... his 3 stigmata.

Something happens to Eldritch on Proxima and the aliens he encountered allow him to return to earth with a powerful new hallucinogenic ...... one so powerful that the colonists on Mars and people elsewhere will find all constraints removed from their fantasy lives ..... or do they? Amazing novel that showcases Phil K. Dick in one of most inventive phases.

Sorry for the semi-OT but much of todays sci-fic is written by people who freely acknowledge the vast contribution to the genre of Phil K. Dick.
