Very tight clean artistic map, really great looking and plays good too. I'm sorta really in a UT1 mood right now tho... but I really like the maps graphics at least hehe. :up:

Hey - just got a chance to play the map.

Killer atmosphere and flow in this map, Turret, but there's a clipping bug near the Bulldog that causes you to drop and "swim" through the ground until you hit a ramp that leads up to the building, then everything's fine.

Other than that, this map owns :up:

Damn, I thought I got rid of all those holes. grrr

Glad you all like though. Yes it does run a bit slow :( I optimised it as much as possible but it is an open layout level. You can see a lot in one screen.

Nice map, everything is good except :

the first time i exited the compound, i walked right intothe ground like the old citadel bug :\

luckily it only happened once

This map is beyond good. It feels like it was shipped with the game (collision bug and all ;)!). This map should go into everyone's rotation.

LOL, what a coincidence.

As far as I can tell that collision bug shouldn't be happening. Maybe it's just the angle the terrain hits the BSP? I may release another version, but it is a pain in the ass to upload a second version just to fix a collision problem :sour:

For now you will have to jump :D

Cliffyb already beta tested the map for me, so he knows all about it. If the map is half as good as my beta testers it should be alright - Plutonic, Desperado and Cliifyb.

alright, I have ur map - its good, it would be really nice for a 8-10 player deathmatch

I love what you did with the doors, having the gate open up, then the actualy door - alot of maps are popping up with innovative things like that


in another map, there was this rotating globe in it - little stuff like that gets me all giggly, I kinda wish a map had alot of stuff like that :)


gj on the map - supmit it here - www.nalicity.com andf ask for a review - it should get a good 5.0 at least (if u want a high rating, u gotta bust out all of the stops, there the real deal) :)

This map is what true map designing should be all about with the new engine :D

This map is getting Ownage and it deserves it more than others in the Ownage map list. IMHO

From the beta I saw to this one I like the little changes you made. The snow in the sky light windows and the new orange textures to give the place more color and some other small grates detail things you put. Great stuff! if this shows what you will make in the future I say this is a mapper everyone should keep a good look at.

Get hosted at PU or UB Turret as soon as possible.

I can not wait to see what your working on next!

BTW: LOL at the 1337 thing ;)

Turret, besides the sites u mentioned, always add it to www.unrealplayground.com (http://www.unrealplayground.com) I find it the best site to host your maps. once you register then upload the map its realdy to go. its all automatic

I like a bunch of others like Ut2003hq, but this has great options for mappers.

I'm downloading the map now and will check it out, looks great from the screens!

I was making one for a while and it was kinda not going where I wanted it too... but I'm trying to pick it up again. Don't know how long it will take me, it'll take a while to get some good flow into it.

Well, I don't know about ownage, the major problam with the map is that jail room, and that collision bug obviously. The jail room imo is well ... :bulb: I put it in just as competition was closing. I didn't have the conviction to rip it out and rework it for the final release.

Well what can I say this map is OWNAGE it is damn near perfect flow ROX, the double mover doors too sweet the timing is excellent. I love it Turret Keep up the great work. can't wait for your next work.

Yeah Turrett,

This is a great map! I just got done playing with a bunch of bots (rare occurence) and it's got great flow, atmosphere and textures. I really think Mr. B should think about ownage. Once again though, I wish some servers would put this map in rotation. (hint, wink, whatever). Pleease! I need to play with humans! Enough with the bots!

No Seriously, this is one of those maps that will stay on my HDrive as long as I have UT2003 on there. Alas, I'm tired of playing with Bots. I have yet to see this on a server. I'll keep my fingers x

:eek: Wow! Plays great! Worth the wait to come out, that's for sure, and definately deserving of ownage. With the comments posted here about slowdowns, I was a bit worried since my rig isn't the most powerful.

- ATI Radeon 7500 - 4X AGP
- AMD XP Athlon 1800+
- 416 Megs SDRAM @133mHz
- Windows XP

But, this map plays perfectly without any slowdown anywhere on the map for me... And I looked for it. I played with 5 bots (the usual number I play with) and no problems at all. Gameplay is great, the design of the level is great, bot paths are great, graphics are great... This one's a keeper.

As long as you have a system like mine or better, this map should give you rock solid FPS all through.

Again, thanks for the positive feedback. This is the stuff mappers live for.

The map doesn't run as fast as I would like, and I know how much DM players are sticklers for frame rate. But I tried to stop if from hitting redline. Still, it runs faster than DM-Inferno.

Inferno runs like butter on my comp. Sadly slam choked here and there.
You got the layout and theme well work out though. This is one of the best deathmatch map I've played for UT2k3. I'll gladly put this together with alpu2 if I were to give out an ownage.
I think the biorifle placement isn't good though. I personally felt it should be on higher ground where you can get some advantage on your z and to places leading to tight zones. Outdoor feels a bit bland as well. Other than those, the map rocks.

I loved it too. Downloaded all maps I liked from 01/01/2003 on ut2003hq.com .... and I must say, this one and DM-Vertigo deserve a lot of credit. They're both maps that could just as well have been maps for the original game. Too bad a lot of servers either only runs custom maps, or only original maps .... why can't they both a bit of both?

I'm hearing what you said Fart. I think the community really needs to start putting Ownage maps up on servers. Lately I see alot of "clan" maps that frankly aren't impressive. They almost look like ports from UT.

I have been seeing DM-Killing Fields up alot so that's a start, let's keep the trend going.

KillingField is great as well yes. I've seen some pretty good CTF-maps as well. Marsbase3000, ElecFields and those two on CliffyB's site. Mailed that admin from XS4ALL .... he'd have a look, haven't seen the maps there yet. Hope they will turn up.

Your map seems to crash my server whenever I try to load it. I have uploaded the necessary files to the correct folders in order for the map to work... but it still crashes. Fortunately my server has a nice feature that resets it after a crash...but I would still like to put your map on the rotation.

I have had the same problem with just a few select maps in the past. One for example is DM-LongestYard.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.. :)

BTW - I rent my server from http://www.ilangame.com

It's funny how some things run fast on some peoples system, while slow on others. DM-Inferno runs really slow on my computer, it hits redline and never comes out.

I think I will fiddle with my settings.

As for the server problem, I would not have a clue. I don't play online much myself.

And I find the lighting composition a bit boring in this one.

I have never seen you post one positive thing on another persons work. Are you really that far above everyone else that nothing they do even comes close to matching your own..?



Anyhow great map, i love the layout and it looks good too.

i played slam a few times and i like it. great look, cool flow, intresting fights.

only one thing i have to nitpick. after spawning i run too long without a cool weapon. maybe replacing the spawnpoints will help.
personally iam a fan of spawning right in front of a flakcannon. it motivates me to kick back. in addition, to make the players run around the map, place the ammo paks on other locations.

anyway this map is a keeper. and willstay an my hd. with or without changes

Don't worry about DavidM, he's german. It's a cultural difference not a personality one. An uncle of mine enlighted me about german culture (He lived there for 5 years). What might seem rude to us might be perfectly acceptable for them.

Even my brother says my lighting is monochromatic. Only 9 lights in the level are white, they just have a high saturation values. I probably should have given the lights on the upper level a lower saturation value and shifted the hue toward amber.

The double doors are a simple trick and could have quite easily been done in UT, but movers didn't occlude geometry back then. Now adding a mover with a triggered anti portal can be benefitial to the frame rate.

That, and most UT level designers are poly whores :D
