View Full Version : [Mutator:Request] DecalStay + Bodies Stay Longer!

In UT my Fave Mutator was Decal Stay.
Would some1 please do this again for UT2003.

Decal Stay basically meant that stuff like Blood Stains and Debris would be left during the whole match.

Also could some1 please do a Mutator where Bodies stayed like 5 seconds longer or so as they dissapear too quikly i think.

WHat was even better about that mod was that you could adjust the length of time the decals stayed, from "no decals" all the way up to "always stay" (or something like that).

Decal stay was my favourite too. I would love to see it return. I would fear for my computers safety however but it would still be cool.

I always had it set to "forever" Ah the maps looked so cool after battles.

Mine was always set to forever.
Nothing like running through CTF-Horus with Blood trails leading to the flags the whole match.

There is already an option in "Settings" to choose Decal Stay length as Low, Medium or High. But the always stay would be cool. You can also already turn them off in options.

The bodies thing shouldn't be too hard......I hope.

Yeah it would be fun to shoot the lifeless bodies trough the whole map :)

Yeah, I'll try, but don't expect too much, I remember someone else trying to do this, and coudln't get the bodies to stay. I'm going to try that first, and then go to work on the decals.

Also, I've been only coding Uscript for about a week, so this is really useful for me to learn, however the results may not be what you hope for.

PS - I also have so much freakin work (sunday night, ugh) so it might be like 1 or 2 days to figure some stuff out.

go to your ut2003.ini and set DecalStayScale=X to whatever you want

that should do the trick with the decals

I want the corpses to linger! That + floaty cadavers could be neat. Imagine many bodies floating slowly above the flags/dom points etc, only the twinkle out in the sky once reaching the sky box.

Or cadavers on the ceiling of indoor levels.

Might be havoc on frame rates tho.

I tried putting Decal Stay=10. Didn't see too much of a difference. I guess I have to put it up to 100 or something?

that'd be the best thing since sliced bread which was i think back in 1829;)

but just getting that picture in my mind makes me wonder why no one has thought of this before, then it would have been done by now:cry:

Decal and body stay is one mutator I've been asking for since I got the game....complete with sliders for how long for each. (From no stay to always stay, for both decals AND bodies).

but no one seems to be able to get the bodys to stay. :(

IMO The decal stay would be cool, but i don't see the point of body stay. If you notice the body disapers when you respawn, and the green glow when your body disapers is most likely supose to be you body being teleported and reanimated to play another round. So having the bodies stay would make the special efects seem prety pointless and out of place, unless you plan on removing the green teleport effect when you die; then the body stay would fit a little more because dieing would play like UT insted of UT2K3.

ummm....that WAS what we were asking for. I mean, if the bodys STAY then they can't really be fading out now can they?

Loosecontroll5, I would think that a decal slider or numerical input would be easy for a programmer to do, but a body stay option would destroy frame rates. Also as said above the bodys are being "rematerialized" to be respawned!!

I have seen this requested by so many ppl that it's impossible to understand that nobody has done it yet. The one who could make it would be a worshipped hero, I think. I don't think I have the skill to do it, though :(

Depending on how the coding is, it may or may not be possible to get rid of the ghost with out changing major system files, even if you get the bodies to stay. And if you can't get rid of the ghost it would be both stupid and pointless to have the bodies stay. Thats what I meant! Moron!

Major system files to change the death effect? Er, yeah. We can make Total Conversions just fine but the death effect stays! WW2 with green rising bodies, anyone? :rolleyes:
Stupid and pointless? It would be fun, and fun is the best point you could possibly ask for in a game. If you want a nice example of stupid and pointless, try reading your post.

yeah i've been trying, and am still working on the decals right now. I can get them to stay, but not if you look away. Not sure what is going on there, and i haven't worked on bodies yet, but have some ideas for that too.

Many people have tried to get teh bodies to stay, btu to no avail. I think i was going to try to stop the bodies from deResing until a timer ran out (since the time is going ot be user defined, not only forever). Yeah I'm kinda busy, so if anyone else wants to try, just do it. Tomorrow I will have no time at all.

seriously, I remember in WoT, and a few others, that devs would answer some questions, provided the person asked nicely and all. :)

If its sooo easy and you can get the bodies to do all this wonderful stuff acc then why is it that no one can get it to work. Hell you can't even read my post right. If you would have read my original post idiot, you would see that i think this is a good idea as long as you can get rid of that efect AND keep a carbon copy of the body on the map... So congats! You 2 (A2597 acc) just keep proving what *******s you really are!

I disagree.

Stupid? Perhaps, might effect frame rates too much. Perhaps the mod needs to use lower poly cadavers.

Pointless? Perhaps, but it's just for eye candy. I say again, imagine floaty cadavers + corpse linger. Imagine the bodies slowly drifting up to the sky box & deresing there. Ever play the UT mutator called Soul Hunter? Thats the effect I imagine, albeit no soul, just the body floating up.

The decals won't stay, and none of the other coders seem to be able to help, so i think i'm going to try to get the bodies to stay, and then go back to fscking with the decals later. If anyone else wants to work on this, please do so; I'm trying this one more for learning purposes than enjoyment. Still, though, I'll keep trying until I run out of crazy ideas.

There is a mod that lets corpses stay LONGER. Not forever, but it changes other settings and amkes weapons different. CustomConfig. http://mods.moddb.com/627/

This amkes them stay about 10-15 seconds but the other settings are different to normal UT2003.
Maybe someone could download and See how it's done.
