Some of you have been asking me to open up Deck 16 on the Deck 17 map.

There are 5 connecting routes (sortof more) in all the versions of "Decks".

I usually do my own screen shots, but I'm out of time at the moment... I'll do some of my own later, but Sergio over at pcgamemods is nice enough to do screen shots. There should be some at the link I gave for the DM version:

If you want to know how to connect the two Decks for CTF, download CTF-Deck16]I[ that I released for UT. Willhaven did some work on it too :up:

Played quite a lot in Clan matches for a long while.

More than one route between the two.

I wont be bothered if you straight port the routes.

I appreciate the offer bro, but I already finished the CTF version. Just waiting for the mirror.

DM/TDM/CTF/DOM versions were finished yesterday. I'm putting the finishing touches on the BR version.

There are 5 or so different routes connecting 16 and 17.

EDIT: Red-dwarf, hey brother, something funny. I was looking through my maps directory of my old UT1 installation last night and saw your map in there from 2/1/2000. It was one of the ones my son and wife and me would play over the lan... I forgot half of what was in our rotation, but yours was one of them. Hehe.

Now that I re-acquired a card worthy of playing UT2k3, I'm looking forward to playing these maps :)

been getting these deck17 maps since the first rls

they get better and better

17 is awesome

16 and 17 is brilliant

but

it seems to be VERY bright... VERY VERY bright... just thought i should mention (IF u make another revision...)

Thanks Zwergor, I agree about the lighting. Especially compared to UT1's Deck 16, it is quite bright... I think I like it though.

Teddie to be honest I've never tried Deck17 have enuff DM maps and don't really dig remakes but the DOM version made me justify the 13mb DL combined with all the Hype About Deck17 plus Deck16 right next door(very 1337). Looks awsome cann't wait to play it . I loved Dec24th and I usually hate the oversized maps. But when I play your map I feel like an action figure on MethelAnphetamine fragging up my Mom's livingroom. Keep up the great work.

Hey Teddie, nice work on all the Decks. Just a comment on the DOM version, I don't know if where you put the points is where I would have (not that I'm an expert :) ). With the added connecting hallway it has 3 entrances where it is now which is nice, but all 3 are on the same level and there's no vertical combat, and they're all hallways so it's all generally straight shooting. Plus getting there can be a pain, I didn't look at all the playerstarts yet but I'd bet that the middle ramp or the new back hallway would be the only routes taken in a hurry.

I would probably have put them near the two lifts. I don't know if the platform between them or just underneath the deemer area would be better, probably the latter. People could come from down the center, both side hallways, the lifts below or the portal. If the point was there the portal might have to be changed depending on where spawns are, it might make it too easy to get back to.

That would be defendable but might make for better play and use more of the map. It sounds like it would make it bigger than it already is but if spawns are done well it's playable. Plus I think that would make a lot of routes shorter than they are now.

Man, I'm seriously considering what you're saying.

Can you do me a favor and play the map a couple of times and let me know how it played for you... The player starts are not grouped like bases, they're scattered, but none very close to the dom points.

If it comes down to it, I'll move them in a revision, but let me know how the DOM plays... that goes for anyone else that would be willing to give me feedback on the DOM version... I'd really appreciate it.

Dont know whats wrong ted, but when I run the map, Unreal just crashes to desktop. My other maps work fine. What's up? I noticed most everyone who post has still not actually played this and thus might not have experienced this problem.

That was a great map, but I gotta give Teddie's a chance (i was skeptical about CTF-Deck16 ]|[ too, but it ended up being very good, you see).

BTW, I notice Willhaven hasn't updated his PU page in 2 years... does he have a different website now, or is he just not updating?
Is he working on anything ATM?

Just gave DD version of Decks a spin...very nice...sweet....bot pathing seems to be excellant...most especially for a 3rd party DD map....another top quality effort..

I'am running an ATI RADEON 64 MB DDR, I have not had this crash problem with any map retail, or user made up to this map. The crash occurs when I run any version of decks...

PLEASE HELP TEDDIE.

How much system RAM do you have . . . sometimes intensive maps can cause your computer to actually restart :bulb:

And don't look at FPS to judge intensity . .. it's ram usage . . also what OS, if WinXP it might be booting you out because it detected an infinite loop or a possible device failure (ram or vid card)

It's only happened on one map for me ever, i was getting like 30 fps on it but my processor was justchugging so damn fast that next thing i know im looking at the dos start screen :bulb:

Oh thats another thing, an inadequate power supply might be at fault here

no as to why it would only happen on the Deck maps, thats a mystery....... which leads me to think its PROBABLY something UT2k3 related, ie. you're missing a package or something :bulb:

Sorry about the holdup on the CTF version. I've told pcgamemods to hold off on putting it online for release because I'm making a change to the way the teleporters work... Just a few more hours and I'll re-upload the changed version.

You managed to take two remake version and turned them into one Very Original Concept the DDom edition is the BEES KNEES man, a much needed breath of recycled air into the DOM scene I am having a blast via lan with the decks cann't wait to try it on the pubs frag yous Later

Purplw, sorry for the delay on that. I told pcgamemods to hold off on putting out for download because I needed to change the way the teleporters worked for this version. As well as the flag resetting properly with all those pits. I'm taking care of it today. But the BR version is done.... I'm waiting on the mirror.

Thanks Capt, I appreciate that. If you like BR, you've gotta try the BR version when I get it online for download.... I was testing the hell out of it last night and it was pretty damn fun for me.

Moose, I'm fighting with bad-karma today. But all will be well in the end, my friend. Needed to fix something on the CTF map (teleporters, flag resets, etc.).... not to bad.. BR version is definitely done and will be available shortly... Waiting on pcgamemods.

I was all set to say the DOM version was a load of crap (:) ) but but after giving it a quick play I have to say, you've done it again. I was expecting alot of unused areas in the map but I think where you have put the DOM points is great. There are no useless routes. I thought there were bound to be some that just weren't worth taking. Glad to say I was wrong (no really, it can happen :eek: )
Another outstanding map to add to my collection. Can't wait for the other versions. :):up:

I think the DD version of Decks is the best 3rd Party DD map available so far...bot pathing and overall gameplay as well as superior graphics make it clearly the best :up: :):)

Note::: I am well aware the giving only compliments does not help the author much but I can not find anything wrong with the darn thing :)

Scratch what I said about changing the teleporters in the CTF version. I changed them for BR, but I won't for CTF... (I'm still thinking...)

I did fix the flag resets in the pools of death...

CTF coming later today.

EDIT: okay, I might change the way the transporters work, still...

Ted, still cannot play this map. Crashes to desktop with no error message everytime. All other maps fine.

I'am on a p4 1.4, with 640 MB of RD 800 Mhz ram. As I said before RADEON 64 MB DDR card...

and I can run deck 17 alone fine.

I was wondering if it was a Video ram issue... My wife has 128mb on her gforce, I've got 128mb on my gforce and my son's got 64mb on his gforce... so I tried the maps on his machine with no problem. That's just some ftp space that I use for temporary storage that RFChecker (here on the forums) was nice enough to get me. I usually use pcgamemods because the owner, S3rgio is usually up around the same times I am (very late at night or very early morning)... he's a good guy and provides a major service with the free screenshots and everything. He's passionate about his website... I'm grateful to all the websites that host maps to be honest -- pcgamemods, UT2003HQ, etc. etc.... couldn't do a damn thing without them...

That sweet little voice over the intercom is my wife... She's got a great voice in my opinion. What I had her say is this, "Deck 16 - BioWaste Refinery has been re-opened. All safety rules and regulations are in effect."

I'm not sure what's next from me... I'll surprise you folks again. You guys seem more happy when you're surprised.

Ok you have to know I am a DD man....I tried your BR version of Decks because I just could NOT not try it.....Dam it played well...good frames...flowed well....bots played really well on singleplayer...I can not find anything to complain about.....except that you are making it hard for me to remain a DD man with such a great BR map....shame on you :):)

One question just for informational purposes if I may ask: Is there an ETA for the CTF version? :):)

I love the BR map and would love to run it on my server except I am having one problem, it wont upload to my redirect server in ucc compressed format. If anyone else has had this problem please tell me how you got it fixed. I use http://ut2k3maps.gaming.stny.com/ as my redirect as it is a public redirect.

I think hopefully tonight on the CTF... I ran into a zoning nightmare at one of the connecting points after I made a change no where near the connecting points... mapping can test one's sanity sometimes...

Teddie, once again, I find myself praising you for your hard work! Seeing as I was never a fan of Deck 16, it's kind of weird that I love your Deck maps! I've played all of the "Decks" versions released so far and I can't find anything wrong with them either! :up: They're absolutely amazing and I lvoe the way you've seamlessly integrated the 2 maps together! Props to whoever it was that mentioned opening up the door! Great idea, it works so well! The frame rate is top notch and the game play is just so addicting!! While I'm on it, I also played Deck 17, rev.1 and I'd say that as good as the first final was, this is that much better! The bot paths are better, and the bots are tougher to compete with now! WTG! Also, slowing down the elevators, makes it a bit more risky to use them, and that adds to the strategy. I'm also for Decks getting ownage, this is a first rate job you've done on the maps and I hope you get the credit that you're due.

You're work's appreciated, Teddie, and you've given me hours of fun here with UT2K3!

P.S. Your wife did a great job on the voice too! Nice touch!

Please do not release the CTF version until you feel it is finished and as polished as you want it to be....your track record is of total quality and having folks like me say "where is it" is really not fair.....

Small problem unzipping the CTF Deck package....

I use winrar and I have tried 4 times to unzip it and each time it tells me it gets...an unexpected end of archive error..... and then treats it as if it is corrupted. Sorry...I will try and d/l another copy to see if it makes a difference.....

edit:: I d/l'ed CTf package again and got the same error when unzipping... :(

Hey Teddie, the DOM map has been on a server for a while but I was waiting until I got to play a few games on it before commenting. It plays a little better than I thought initially, and is a good addition to a public server. It's different, looks good, plays pretty well, etc. Spawns aren't perfect but spread out is better than something like the blue spawn on RoadRunner where everybody comes out of one tunnel. The point combat is pretty much what I thought it would be, mostly flat and people coming down corridors. You can still defend most routes from the middle though so it's not too bad. I don't know how much moving the point to the lifts would help that, maybe a little. Making that change would probably require some more spawn changes.

Leaving it like it is would be perfectly fine for pubs, if it were to be used for competition it could be improved but it's still playable.

P_Funk thank for that feedback. I appreciate it. What I might do is make an alternate point location map. But it will be a while... I've got other map projects on the back burner that I need to take care of... Again, thanks for taking the time to try it out.

the CTF map is godlike. Probably the best CTF map I ever played. It's a bit hard on my 512mb of RAM, but after a while it runs real smooth (like December).

But I did notice one bug in the CTF version, in the flak room in the Deck 16 where the slime is (not the big slime pit but the small one with the flak cannon) when you fall it it says you left a small crater, not, you dissolved in slime... like there is a 'fall box' or whatever you call it...

Great maps, I love them, your wife has a nice voice too hehe. :up:

[edit : actually I just noticed it did the 'left a small crater' in the lava in the flak room on the 17 side too, a bit odd, but no real matter.]

CTF version Decks

I really love this map....if I was not a self-described DD fanatic I'd just have to become a CTF convert over this map of yours...:):)...flows well...graphics look awesome as you would expect....I did finally make one observation...thank God.....whew....I did notice that outa all the versions...my frames ran about 10% less with this CTF version.....which is not a problem as I got 45-65 throughout the map reaching as high as 90 in some of the hallways....but I watched closely and overall it ran about 10% less than the others....just an FYI....

Thank you for all your hard work and attention to detail...it will give me many, many hours of enjoyment and for that you have my most sincerest thanks.....

What's to say, these are great :)

just played the CTF, I like the flag positionment and the jump pad. The whole problem with ppl only taking the easiest route isn't that big of a deal as i thought it would be, it's pretty much a concious decision i guess, sometimes i take the high and dry road just to stir things up a little :P

Teddie you have had one very busy week 4 different and flawless maps released to the public. I'm DLing the CTF edition as I type and I sure that I won't be disappointed.
I must comment on how gracious you've been at answering all the posts personaly,You have better support that most devs do. In my opinion I would like to see Ownage awarded to the whole set of four they are truely marvelous works each with it's own charm that sets each apart from the others. If Cliffy doesn't see it his head is up his....

I may have been a bit premature yesterday and I wholeheartedly apologize if I was...I played 12 singleplayer matches very early this morning on the CTF Decks map and monitored my frames closely...they never dipped below 68 and topped a 100 on many occassions....I like my GF4 Ti 4600 :):)....sooo it appears that yesterdays 10% hit may have been due to something running in the background that I overlooked or something...who knows...working more than fine now :up: :):)

Ejen's Ownage Award for Best Map Pack for 2002 goes to.......

Dustoff, thanks man... I was concerned about the routes with the CTF version... You should have seen the bots before I closed off the very top route... They loved that route a little too much... Which is why I closed that one for the CTF version... Thanks for playing the map, glad you're enjoying it.

I'd like to make a DB map one of these days for the hell of it.

I actually played DeathBall for about 30 minutes the other day because I grabbed the 1.4b update from the DeathBall site...

I still like it... Actually, dreamstation's map "Rushed" was the first time I tried DB.... I like it... I like DB.

EDIT - one of the reasons I like DB so much is, I like MODs... Give me more MODs for this game and I'll be a happy man. (dang that reminds me, I need to re-install the KotH MOD from Jet...)...

The BR-Decks[FuT] teleporters work a little different than the other Decks (i.e. DM/TDM-Decks[FuT], DOM-Decks[FuT], and CTF-Decks[FuT])

The teleporters in BR-Decks are Team specific teleporters. You'll notice the signs above the teleporters. I did this because of the BR flow.

If you're on the Red team, you can only use the RED Deck 17 teleporter.

If you're on the Blue team, you can only use the BLUE Deck 16 teleporter.

Please let me know if it works for you.

Argh, how did i miss these remakes until now?! Deck-16][ was one of my favourite maps in UT, and i played the beta Deck17 and loved that as well, but one with BOTH ends open sounds really good :D

Unfortunately i'm at work for another few hours (damn work :mad: ) but once i get home i'm going to have to download these straight away and get playing :)

If the beta Deck17 was anything to go by, these maps should be incredible (and judging by the response in this thread, they are)

CreepD's version of Deck16 is perfect IMO. I think you'll like that one based on what you just said. Try it out.

A new version if available from www.pcgamemods.com re-made it from scratch released it about 2-3 weeks ago.

CTF-Amanziona, any chance of seeing some screens of it so far?
