Hello,
I have been fairly unsatisfied with the "blandness" of out-of-the-box Zoom Instagib... primarily the beam effect.
Now, I realize that there is an alpha release of a VERY customizable insta mutator, and I will certainly incorporate an idea or two from that, but my goal is simple: enchance the beam effect, enhance the sound, and glorify kills.
Here's how I'd like to do it:
[Beam Effect]
This will not be customizable like it is in the aforementioned mutator - I didn't care too much for the complexity. So, the goal here is to brighten it up a bit and add a slight particle effect to the beam. Naturally, red team's beam will have a red hue, and blue team's beam will have a blue hue.
[Beam-Enemy Collision Effect]
Inspired by the xloc-shock combo effect of the Extreme mutator, I thought it might add a nice little twist to things by spawning a shock combo at the point of contact between the IG beam and an enemy target.
[Headshots]
TBD, but headshot reporting is being considered. Again, there is a headshot mutator out there right now, but it seems a bit buggy (GPF's). If I can pull it off minus the bugs, it will be in there.
[Beam Sound]
TBD, but something more "in your face" than the current sound effect.
So basically, this mutator is really a collection/modification of a few others. The main goal was to pull the asepcts I liked most of these other ones, and then condense them into what I consider necessities (such as removing the enourmous configuration aspects of the other IG mutator). This is not an attempt to take credit for anyone else's work. In fact, all code will be done from scratch. These other mutators will only be used to help conceptualize the mutator.
So, let me know if this sounds like something everyone would like to see. If it's not something that will be embraced on a scale outside of my own servers, it really isn't worth the time and effort. Expected release is < 30 days.
