Curb Stomp!

Anyone seen any other vids of multiplayer besides the 30 sec off screen one? You could hear people chanting X,X,X! (I believe this is the button for the curbstomp) But when the guy playing was about to curbstomp his foe he got killed...:( I love this feature and was wondering if anyone has got a glimpse of it yet.

A curb stomp is a move where the player grabs his enemy from the back by his arms, and then brutally kicks him in the back. Smashing him into the floor.

Yeah on the MTV2 E3 episode he talked about how he was all nervous about presenting the game. I think he did a great job, and left the audience with a little somthing, but not alot like most game developers find themselves doing at E3. He left me with enough information that I know what the game is like, yet not to much to give away every game feature.

Actually in multiplayer there are rounds and if you die you just go into spectator mode until everyone on your team dies.

You don't die instantly though, there is a little bit of time inbetween getting shot to the ground and actually dieng. Giving teammates the chance to 'revive' you and opponents the chance to curb stomp.

In the only multi-player vid out you can see a locust on all fours in this mode barely. Sometimes you dont got to it though... depends on how you get shot. But it will happen most of the time. for example. When you get grenaded, you cant stay on all four when your missing your arms and legs... :)

yeah, i like that there's dismemberment in the game. i wonder if it's just arms and legs or if you can blow people's heads off. that'd be cool. and yeah, i think the curbstomp is smashing the enemy's head with your foot, sounds awesome!!

Heh, it would be a cool feature if they had some voice option to talk to your team, and if you don't press that button everyone close can hear you. So you can just shout at him :P.
Too bad all the voicing goes through the dashboard now, Microsoft really ****ed that up. Along with the accounts that run through the dashboard: which makes you unable to play on 1 live account with more that 1 account.

Now my question is why is the player given these 15 seconds on the ground, waiting to be curb stomped? Is there something that you are waiting for and that the curb stomping prevents? For instance in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory there was a similar 15 sec period where you could be revived by a medic, but if someone shot or stabbed you etc then you were dead for good and had to respawn back at base.

So when you are on the ground (I assume with some cool motion-blurred first person view so you can watch that big boot come down on your face) are you actually waiting to be revived in some way by another player, or to regain consciousness?

Basically I'm just wondering if the player dishing out the stomp has a reason to finish someone off other than the cool factor, maybe like bonus points or a kind of morale boost? (That is, if anyone is allowed to talk about it)

Both! Your teamates can heal you or you can get curbstomped if none of them are around. Also you dont go to this mode everytime... depends on the kill.

CURBSTOMP CONFIRMED IN THE GAME, MY BAD FOR DOUBTING YOU GUYS CHECK THIS OUT:

After some spray ‘n pray I decided to try a diversion tactic. I equipped a smoke grenade and threw it at the enemy. I leapt from cover and equipped my shotgun. Just as I had hoped he moved into the clearing that I had just entered. I took a few rounds from his assault rifle but my shotgun does a much faster job in close combat. As he fell to the ground clutching his stomach, an Epic employee yelled “ok he’s bleeding out, run over to him and press X quick!” Not wanting to let him down I ran over to my wounded foe and tapped X. And in a well-executed animation, Marcus lifted his leg above the locust and stomped the poor bastards head into the ground with a satisfying crunch.

btw i was WRONG again about the "X" button for allies it is revive and for enemies its curbstomp

I can't imagine a game without Chainsawing of curb stomping somebody now. Everytime i play GRAW and kill somone i'm like "Thats nice and all, but GoW lets you Chainsaw people and smash there heads on the ground" lol:D

They get out of a car and begin to venture through a forest with thunder and rain. They reach a gas station to full their car, then the video from the 2005 E3 comes up. It's wierd, cus it's raining in the forest, but once they walk through the station to the other side, it's just dark out.

same here man ...it's wierd that with all the footage out there and all the screams of X X X X we haven't seen the "stomp" (I'm hesitant to use "curb" cos it makes absolutely no sense though everyone seems to say it - because the expression I believe is ..."kick to the KERB") but what do I know (CliffyB feel free to weigh in here. kerb or curb?)

it seems in most of the vids that when in "down but not out" 15 sec death pose everyone went for the chainsaw? is the "kerb" stomp anywhere near as insulting as the chainsaw? or a pistol whip melee kill ...

No clips are out right now, but a curbstomp is bascily when ur character stomps on the enemies head(sometimes they make the enemy bite the Curb in real life, but not in gears, well thats why its called a "curb" stomp) and then there FACE EXPLODES!:D

EDIT: well here is a Real "curbstomp", i don't know if GoW will have it like this, i dont think that ur character will pull the enemies arms back, but this is a curbstomp and i think Gow will have something kind of close to this,

i seen it ...that was indeed sick i tell thee (in real life) but in a game? what tha hey... although grabbing the arms in GoW would be real daft as I can see more than a few sucker kills while your curb stomp ...just imagine holstering your weapon to pull off an over elaborate curb stomp (if it's over elaborate) and while youre "animating" his team mates ambush you and chainsaw your exposed backside ...speaking of which can you chainsaw someone from behind? or will the animation rotate and saw from the front? as seems to be the case??? or if someone is crouching can you saw his head? or does the animation stand him up to a "default" pose? so many questions man

I'm guessing that it'll be more like the scene out of American History X. He doesn't grab his arms, he just makes the guy bite curb and then he steps on his head. It'll probably be just a head stomp kinda thing.

no GoW videos are out, and the REAL curbstomp i posted was removed so u can just go online and search,

BTW i think that the Curbstomp in the game will be a player just bashing a enemy's head into the ground, no arm holding...
