Getting Hurt WHILE Chainsawing???

i was wondering can ur player get hurt or get killed while ur in the "chainsaw cut scene" killing someone else, or in the "curbstomp" cut scene, and whatever other special attacks/moves EPIC is going to have in the game, do u guys think that while chainsawing, curbstomping....that ur player will be invincible or will he be able to get hurt and or killed, i think that would be cool if u could get killed while in "mini cut scene mode" (as i call it) b/c then ur buddies could save u from a chainsaw, curbstomp..., imagine an enemy is in the middle of chainsawing u and then ur buddies snipe him or melee him in the back, will u be saved or not, maybe u will live but with little health, and here is another thought can a guy that is chainsawing another be chainsawed himself???

You know what else would be cool. If lets say you do get shot while you are trying to chainsaw someone, the chainsaw falls on you while it is still on. That would suck for that person

That's a really good point, maybe someone from Epic can pop in here and enlighten us when they get the time. Could you get shot by an enemy as you are chainsawing someone? I imagine the game wouldn't freeze for everyone as you chainsawed the guy, because what happens when two people or more are using the chainsaw simultaneously? Maybe Epic has done something tricky with it, akin to how Burnout manages those cool slow-mo crashes.

hopefully they can get shot, it would add more teamwork since people would need to watch eachother's backs.

in UC2, when someone did a coup de grace (kinda like the chainsaw cutscene), the guy was invincible (I think... dont really remember) which sucked.

You probably can since it's not really a mini cut scene, it's just an animation. I know that you can get killed during the curbstomp because in the multiplayer video that's floating around the guy lifts up his foot for the stomp and gets killed before he can do it.

Sounds like there'll be some saves, but once that chainsaw is down their chest, I think the saving is futile.

cool! but if could save them it would be cool if the earlier u save them the more health they will have, ex. if the chainsaw is more than a third into ur buddy he is dead, but if u save him then maybe he only "almost dies":D

i hope they make it realistic in which u can be hurt while chainsawing and curbstomping

Well imagine if you are player B then. You get hurt or die. But after the cutscene. In other words, no mates can save your opponents ass if your chainsaw is planet in your opponents chest. You die(or get hurt), your opponent dies.

ya that would be true, the point is to try to save ur pal that is getting chainsawed before the chainsawer gets more than 1/3 into his body(my guess) and then ur pal will live, maybe with very little health, im not sure, but i think EPIC has some ideas:D

It would be amusing if u blew away a guy who had just started chainsawing....might be able to run around with a gun wedged in ur shoulder :)! I reckon once u go in2 that chainsaw clip....u r as good as dead...if sum1 shoots the guy tht is chainsawing he will die after the clip.

What he is kind of implying is that somehow, your enemies can use you own chainsaw against you if they are able to sneak up on you. He is also saying that a fellow teamate can save your life from getting chainsawed like what we were discussing. Hope that helps!

What I think he means is;

-you can be attacked while you are chainsawing someone
-when you are attacked while chainsawing, you will either die or be very close to death
-there is a possibility of the chainsaw jamming halfway through the attack (not sure if he meant any chainsaw attack or just the counterattack)
-it is possible to save your teammates by killing someone who is chainsawing them

thanks that does help, so i was right you can "save" ur buddy from getting shredded, lol, i love it! thats so cool that u can use there own chainsaw against them, maybe some button combo (thats pretty hard to do) just like when we were talking about the button combo for the "counter" to the chainsaw, this must be the "counter" we were thinking of, this is so great! i love u EPIC!

have you guys ever used a real chainsaw from like the seventies with no safety lock? There are famous stories of accidents happening that led to the safety to go on. When people would chainsaw and the chain became (slighty loose) it would cause the whole saw to fly up super quick and caused many people to actually chainsaw their own face ( :x ) Good thing the have safety locks now! But maybe the COGS chainsaws dont have safety locks... :) I hope you guys got that..

ya!! curstomp! and u kno the knife and all, idk if its going to b TOO useful unless, i'm just gunna throw this out but it might have already been said, if u and ur enemy are 1 on 1 at the end and you both run out of ammo its a knife fight to the death, but thats just a thought

So, this is how it's likely to be;

Attacker, person A
Victim, person B
Allie of Person B, person C

Attacker begins chainsawing person B, animation begins.
There may be a small 500ms moment before the chainsaw bites

If Person C manages to kill A at this point, his allie is saved. Unlikely considering the high hitpoints of players, unless he's badly damaged.
Chainsaw bites. Victim (person B) is dead already. Full stop.

If person C kills A at this point his allie (B) is still DEAD, but since the chainsaw animation "locks" the control for player A, he's a sitting duck.

The animation provides some balance to chainsaws. If player A runs into a close enemy squad, he's sacrificing himself for one chainsaw - while the animations running the victims allies would kill him.

Please can we stop this nonsense about saving a player who is BEING chainsawed. If you had a chainsaw coming at you and it even TOUCHES your flesh, you're dead. Chainsaws PULL IN material towards them due to how the teeth move from the top of the blade to beneath it; if a chainsaw touched something as soft as an arm it sucks right down onto it EXTREMELY quickly - I read once its pounds of flesh per second. Why don't we use chainsaws as military weapons? I believe it would be against the Geneva convention; there are international laws preventing the use of weapons like riot shotguns or chains saws which create such terrible wounds. Not only that but chainsaws have a habit of jumping back at the wielder; chainsaw a piece of wood with a nail in it and it would jump back in your face.

I think I remember hearing something about getting shot or attacked while chainsawing, that there will be an animation where your character stagers back (if its not leathal, of course)before going back in to chainsaw the guy. Mabe it would give him a chance to counter the attack, I don't know.
