Just wanted to say this forums is awesome! keep up the good stuff
But also i wanted to show and ask your opinon on this...

My friend is doing this and hes done a few in the past with a couple games, and i said i'd do some voices and help with some stuff... I just wanted to show this to you cuz this is the Gears of War official forum and this deals with Gears and creating something (hopefully) funny.

UPDATE July 29th/06

We are now opening the auditions for anyone whos still interested in taking part in the first Machinima for Gears of War titles Errors of War! The site is down right now... the host is having problems but you have an oppurtinity to participate in these films. Like i said before, no release date is confirmed because Gears doesnt have one yet, but once its out We will start, i already started on the scripts and some characters (based on the 4x4 online battle).

What you will need is a microphone... Hopefully a good one because we are not only looking for good voices but quality sound too. But you can also be a cameraman, or a puppeteer aswell. but at the moment this post is for the auditions of voice actors. Here they are.

These are the 'status' of the characters, no names have been decided but until then, if you want to participate, send any line (hopefully you do most because some spots are already reserved to other people) and the top ten for each character will be choosen and then another set of lines will be sent out and we'll keep going down to 5, 3, 2 and the final. (gosh my inbox is gonna be full ain't it?).

So far, since theres gonna be 4x4 verses, they'res gonna be eight maybe nine or ten people, but right now we got 6 or 7 people taken down for the part... its not first come first serve like others, theres gonna be auditions whenever we get the official script done. ^__^

Agreed. EPIC is the best. All of the free mods they put out! Man, they still have guys puting out free mods for UT2K4! You can tell they care about the fans more than the money and that is truely inspiring. I'm really contimplating going into the buisness and EPIC seems like it has the coolest people. But you cant really choose that type of thing!

Once again just go to the site and hit "Contact" we are looking for as many people as we can find right now... but unforuntly when we get everything together, all the notes on everyone, there will be quite a few people who will have to deny.

You get an edge of you got experience, but you gotta show me some of your work.

Yeah i never like it when im dling a 100mb item myself >.< They'res gonna be most likely two different quality's. Decent quality and HD quality (as soon as i find how to hook up my computer to the HD cables ^_^)

And my favorite RVB character is Caboose lol

Its possible for random appearance, but the script is not complete so nothing is official, we might need some guest appearances for... well we're gonna have one scene where the COGS call for some backup later on and we're looking to find someone within either the gaming world or community =D but until then, at the moment there is no longer any casting

Right now it may be delayed due to issues with both our cameramen's capture cards. One with Vista problems, and one with just overall crappy computer problems. We're still looking for a release before X-mas, although dont be surprised if its delayed. We will though still working a script due to the fact we have the product. So we'll be prepared ;)

So I have a question about how you are going to make machinima with Gears. In halo its easy to make someone appear like they are talking because they are inside a helmit. How are you going to do this in gears when you can see their faces?

Shhh... people must have confidence =P If we aren't the first, thats fine. As long as they do everything funny =) We share the love of Gears... but it'd be a bit of a disappointment to us if we're not the first machinima series on the game =( but we're trying all our hardest to produce quality stuff.

That is a secret right now ;) but we're experimenting on what we are planning on doing. Its harder than we expected (we expected some difficulty but this feels a bit more than we planned lol).

That has come up in meetings, but we didn't think it'd work that well... like i said though we're working on something, something different that we've never really seen in Machinimas. But i'll tell you one thing we're adding just to get alittle more into the addition of this is subtitles. We're working with a couple codecs and programs to create some video files (*cough*MKV*cough*OGG*cough*) So you will be able disable or enable subtitles. This might take a bit more time to work on, but we're looking far into it =P
(And of course if we do get into that, we'll still have the regular WMV stuff so you can play it on my 360 haha, many choices)

If worse comes to worse we might use what you said... everyone carmine, but thats not what we want =(

just get up against cover, activer reload, mess it up, then take a vid or clip of him saying "****!" or etc. then take out the words, put it on marcus, play that mouth movement over and over again, and add your voice. there you go. same with locust.

Well at the moment basically our entire voice acting positions are full, unless our british VA has dropped (*points* you know who you are =P).

Still in need for any voices? Im interested in the hyper crazy voice =D Because Im hyper, and most definately crazy! Im also an expert at voice and sound effect mimicing (Im an expert at bird calls, for example. Crazy I know). Ive played GoW once through and Ive got the Locust growl down haha.
As for the talking issue, perhaps if there was some way to avoid showing the mouths? Or maybe use the excuse that the Locust suddenly developed psychic communication? Not sure what to do about the people though. Oh...do they move their mouths when they get hurt? Just shoot them over and over!!! XD

Is the camera going to be in spectator mode? Can the camera freely roam around in this mode? I don't have the game yet and have a million technical machinima questions. Good luck with the film and will be there on opening night.
