It looks like there will actually be a certain level of dismemberment in the game, you can find a video here
http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/gearsofwar/index.html
called Gears of War Official Movie 1 that shows a Locust Drone on the receiving end of a shotgun, and he subsequently loses his hand from about the elbow down which can be seen resting on the concrete block that Marcus is using for cover.
P.S. You may have to select another movie, and then once in the Gamespot player, browse for the Official Movie.

Remember they still have some time to add a few things and polish it so I cant wait to see what happens.
I like it, just as long as they don't overdo the whole thing. Shooting of an enemy's stomache so you can see it's carcass hanging out like in SoF2 is what I refeer to by saying "overdo".

SoF2 was a game that sub-standard and boring (just barely worth the money to Rent the game)

Looks good, hopefully we'll see heads dissappear in a similar fashion. Of course not all the time, it could be randomized like Psi-Ops.

I played SoF2 for years, was even in a clan that did pretty well in TWL and OGL, it was fun in its heyday. It takes some getting used to though, I can see why you may have disliked it.

lol...if you think thats beautiful then you should watch the very beginning of the first level when marcus kills the first locust with his shotgun...because when he shoots him he blows of the locust's bottom half of his body! and you can also hear great squishy sound effects

Defintly that game was cool and all but even after the person was dead you could continue to blow body parts of in weird chunks

Also, another small piece of dismemberment is in the team xbox vid where cliffy does an interview then a demo, in the very first part, when he uses the shotgun the first time, you can see the locusts hand fly off and away from his body.

So far, the dismemberment seems to be good...after all, not everyone noticed some right away, which means there isn't too much of it. After all, i dont want to play a game where i get used to seeing heads fly after every shot:eek: ...so long as they have dismemberment subtly added, then i think its a good addition to the game:)

I think dismemberment really only happens if you get up close and personal with a shotgun. Most people would just switch to a lancer, and use its special melee.

Yeah, but it doesn't need to be overwhelming. Like locosenor said, it's nice to have subtle dismemberment, where you notice it but it's not overdone.
