i'd really like bots to be an option, but i don't think they will be. PDZ has been the only multiplayer game in recent memory do do bots, and I just don't think Gears will do it, it'd be cool, and i wish they would, but i just have my doubts about it...

well they have the AI technogly to make good bots, but i highly doubt their will be bots in GOW and i don't really care about it...

PDZ implemented a good A.I for their bots. even though they couldn't make a combination of the personailities together, but they still work. so i say do what ever you want epic.

And someone like me, who will probably never get xbox live for whatever reason (the money isn't an issue) has no choice but bots. UC2 was for Xbox, and it had bots, and I play that all the time since the bots are so well developed.

All I can say is I hope there's bots.

I agree, before getting Xbox Live, all i did was play with the max # of bots on PDZ...then i got Live and everything changed...good times, good times.

bots also dont kick you off the server, and bots wont leave mid-game (unless you kick them)

As a casual gammer, and one that has small burst of time to play before running off to a project or such, bots in FPS or any game has been a major sale point .. a lot of times i dont have the time to jump in to a game with others and play for hours (tho when i do have time thats always fun)

Another fact is that the game modes (well, team deathmatch) are elimination. With bots, your going right into the game. Online, your waiting for two guys left, who are both camping, 10 minutes left of the game, and you just wanna play.

Along with killer bots, Epic has always had some interesting one-liners. :) Mr. Crow comes to mind ("Save your tears, it's a waste of good suffering!"). Anyhow, this is a totally different type of game though, so anything goes. It seems like people coming from the UT mindset seem to keep thinking in those terms. UT is all about arena combat, for money. This game is about survival in a desolate world against unspeakable odds and using strategic team tactics to make a stand.

yeah, and i would like them for the same reason but nobody can really DO bots very well. i dont even think the bots in stuff like unreal are very smart, or even very aware. im not trying to start an argument it's just that all bots are really stupid you know? like PDZ for example, i was playing CTF and passed an enemy bot, they shot at me like twice before they just turned and walked away to get the flag. if Epic can make bots that are actually worthy of a battle ( hey, they're slating the story mode AI as near human level right?) then i will accept them into my games. it's just that no bots ever offer a challenge. and yes, the bots on my PDZ match were above easy efore anyone starts!!!!:)

there has to be bots that would rock yeah bthere not as good as people but without live you can only play multiplayer so much and two people normally isnt that great. games with bots rock.;)

I think instead of bots there should be an unlockable "carnage arena" or something where Marcus and his mates have to fight against waves and waves of Locusts!!! then after every, say 4 waves a boss like Corpser or Beserker would come to make life so hard!!! Then he'd try to do a favor and destroy your hard life!!!:D Booyah!!!

I think Xenomorph is on to some thing.. insted of bots just have one of the stanges opend up and let you run around it knocking off locusts left and right... almost like GTA when you get tired of doing the normal story grind and just run about womping on the AI :D
and to make it better toss in some co-op and let the blood flow on the streets :eek:

Well in a since no not for people with many firends or free time :p

but people in my position some times have little or no time to get in on some live action against human players.. but because i have no time to pick up a game and put in hrs of game play on live dose not mean i don't like playing some death match rounds? so i usually like to fire up the gaming gear beat down some bots for 20mins and then back to work.. (iv gone to the extreme to fire up the other controller so i have some thing to shoot up in non bot games)...

now when i do have free time i have to spend it with my little woman and when we game we normally like to just play off line and run amuck and thus bots make this fun to, were not the grate gammers we use to be :p out time was with battle tanks (i love battle tanks) and frogger ;)


... were really looking forward to this game tho.. its going to make for a perfect end cap to any romantic night.... candles, dancing, wine, the screams of a drone as we chain-saw a nice little path though there chest... ahh thats romance

I think bots would be a welcomed addition for people that do not have XBL. They get the multiplayer action that they want, only you dont get the funny human moments with bots.:D

Well im still hoping and im keeping thos hopes due to pass epic games that bots will be on board... but if not thats no big deal, mostly for the fact that epic is adding one of my favorite things, co-op story mode.. now i hope they let you visit pass levels to replay... like if one had a real intense fight you can go back over and over as much as you want and will have a bot like blood bath :D

But lets say you have a clan war in a couple of minutes and you want a quick game just to prepare then thats what bots are for.

Thats a great idea, never thought of having bots prepare your team for a clan war. It would also be nice if you could change the way the bots attack you. Maybe make them more aggresive or more laid-back approace. That would be great!

Bots are a godsend if you don have live. say you are done with story mode or stuck in story mode or tired with story mode but dont havea freind over the you can just play against bots. yeah its not as fun but it is something. also when i do havea freind over 2 person matches can be so annoying. ten minutes to find them 30 seconds to kill them 10 minutes to find them you get the point. it is fun to have something else to shoot at even if they arnt that smart. and if they are it is great. even if you have live and just feel like warming up before a big match they are useful. i dont think games need bots but i think it makes them a lot funner.:D

I don't believe Bots will be in the game, as Single player is essentially bots. So why would Epic repeat?

again it's to accomodate those players without live and without +7 already available friends, bots can fill in the gaps, simulate a multiplayer game for a time being, help the player formulate strategies and what not for the levels, while under the pressure of actual combat rather than walking in what might as well be spectator mode.

Why are people so against the concept of having bots, if you don't want bots don't enable them, simple as that, but don't try and shut down other people just because they don't have the resources.

in a game like gears, you'll join halfway through the match, which means you half to wait for the players to die, and sometimes they'll all be camping or at different ends of the map, making the short match a year long event.

I hope they put bots in. I like to play with my group of friends and if I don't have all of them there online ready to play. A bot or two can help even the teams out. Sure I could just as easily have a random person do the same thing but they might be really good and I at least have a chance to win with my friends and bots. LOL
